What is role of the diplomatic corps in Israel? What is the role of the diplomatic corps in resolving conflicts in the Middle East and in the Mediterranian? How has the diplomacy in the region changed since the end of the Cold War? What are the lessons our region should learn from Europe? How can diplomats help in creating the conditions for putting the end to the regional violance and bring the parties at war to negotiating table?
CSEPS in cooperation with Chaim Herzog Center for Middle East Studies and Diplomacy has initiated the Ambassadors Forum. The Forum is designed to introduce BGU faculty and students to the centarl role of diplomacy in conflict resolution and negotiations. The Forum hosts four Ambassadors during each Academic year and has in it's memory lectures by Ambassadors from Egypt, USA, France, UK, Germany and many others. Each Forum begins with a public lecture, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Teh idea of the Ambassadors Forum was originally proposed at the first meeting of CSEPS Steering Committee in 2003. The innagural lecture in the series took place in November 2004 with US Ambassador Daniel C. Kurtzer.
This programme is evidence of the exellent cooperation between the two area studies centres at the University, CSEPS and the Haim Herzog Center for MIddle East Studies and Diplomacy. Given the obvious overlap between these two dynamic centres, we expect to implement further cooperative projects and conferences
